Life of the Trendsetter

So basically one of my most fave famous men of all times is mr PHARRELL WILLIAMS
I dont just love and admire this man because of his cute face, but because of everything else as well. This male trendsetter is not only inspiration for the male population but as well for girls everywhere... He pulls off the nerdy funky look like noone else! I not only love his fashion skills but he is part of one of my most favourite groups: N.E.R.D (Noone Ever Really Dies) and apart of my favourite producing duo OF ALL TIMES: THE NEPTUNES.

This million dollar man is apart of the world of the most powerful:
Fashion Icon [BillionDollar Boys Club (BBC), BAPE rep, and his own ICE CREAM line]
Music Legend [N.E.R.D, THE NEPTUNES, own solo album, million and one cameos]
Skater [helped open up the link between hip-hop and skateboarding as we know it, has sponsored a few skaters as well]
HEARTHROB [stealing the hearts of girls literally everywhere]

aka one of my many future husband candidates♥...

rain rain go away come again NEVER

All i have to say what season are we in...
im pretty sure its summer time to be so hot that swimming is essential to survive. and when i say swimming i mean in a pool or in a lake, or even the use of a simple sprinkler... not the sky pouring lots and lots of rain down and covering that beautiful summer sun leaving no time to be outside and have fun at the beach...

I WANT MY SUMMER!

old vs new

[new segment im gonna put up once and a while when i find old things to compare to the new school things]

ART ATTACK vs MR. MAKER

the beloved tvo show that i know everyone watched with amazement was ART ATTACK. that awesome brit Neil and his mad skills for arts and crafts warmed the hearts of many. you would find yourself trying your utmost hardest to try and imitate his creations, being very hard and all considering he was the bomb and leaving the less skilled youngens with a horribly looking imitation of his work. so this show has been gone for a while, and just recently while flipping through the channels during a boring weekday afternoon my cousin and i found ourselves with an imitation art attack on treehouse...

so comes the birth of MR MAKER.

its basically an art attack imitation with way more special effects. instead of having a simple talking head that took very little digital enhancements this new version cannot at all compare to the past. yes the things he does are kinda cool still... although this man has some artistic skills his show just does not seem to compare to good old art attack. this MR. MAKER show has no talking head, not as good arts and crafts and most NO MASSIVE ART...

so in the end this is the beginning of a comparison how old school will always be better than this new school nonsense

Food for Thought...

When the Past Should be Left in the Past...

so when should questions about the past be simply left unknown?
lately i've found myself talking/curious about the past, you know the thing that is dead and gone, never coming back and what i should believe has nothing to do with the present. so the real question on my mind is what are things that should be simply left in the past and left un told for those to know. when do you draw the line and stop asking about one's past. what questions do you ask that will give you the answers you want and not feed you answers that could possibly ruin things...
one will never know
so when is it safe to say what done is done and to leave well enough alone?

in honour of a true poet

not too long ago i decided that i was going to randomly do a post dedicated to one of my friends so i decided this one is going to be going out to my boy kirk a 21st century poet.

DUB POETRY

for those who don't know what dub poetry here is a brief low down.
so it's a legit west indian thing which involved spoken word over some reggae rhtythms. don't get it twisted with rap music this form of poetic expression is a little more sophisticate and deep than your average soulja boy imitation of rap music. although dub poetry is sometimes performed with music it is felt at most strong when it is simpy performed without the backing music, simply expressed with the speech pronounced and accentuated with rhythm and dramatic stylization of gesture. the poet would normally be expressed in such ways with echo, reverb, dubbed spontaneously or even with the use of call and response by the audience.

so this piece was dedicated to one of my best friends who is back home in jamaica for the rest of the summer but is dearly missed, especially during the upcoming caribana weekend. i thought what a better way to dedicate something to him by letting the world a little more aware of one of his deepest passions asides his fam of course.

dedicated to my one and only poet ♥

EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO LOOK...

video kills big tune

This post is the official death of Music Videos as we know it.
So recently Toronto born rapper Drake has been tearing it up in both Canada and the States thanks to his affiliation with lil Wayne. His jam best i ever had has been everywhere and was even performed at the BET awards this year. it was a solid tune and everyone was excited for his music video to come out, especially since everyone was hearing that kanye was directing it and there would be nuff cameos in it.
so much anticipated the video airs just before canada day to be a complete disaster...

Although it would seem i simply disliked it as there were only girls in it with their boobs falling out and what not, but even after reading all the youtube comments, hearing reviews about it on tv and the radio and simply hearing about it from my guy friends, it seems as this video was a complete waste of good camera time, cameos and the distruction of a perfectly good song.

after finding taking in the fact that kanye directed this i had lost a lot of faith in his ability to direct music videos, making me extremely nervous for the kid cudi video he was about to help direct for: make her say - kid cudi ft. kanye west and common. but thankfully i find he was able to redeem himself by making a pretty good music video once again and completing a good song with a decent video

so all i hafta say is after watching the painful best i ever had video [ps first and last time ever to watch this video] i have officially lost all faith in music videos, even after the sick music videos that michael jackson and missy elliot has made...

Where did my summer go?

so i am quite disappointed with the shitty weather that we are currently experiencing... at the beginning of june when the weather was really nice and i was stuck inside i would constantly remind myself that their was a lot of summer left and not to worry about missing the nice weather. im pretty sad that the nice weather is missing in action and that its pouring buckets outside but extremely humid..
what is going on ?!
anyways that is my minor vent about how not only is the weather bumming my summer but also the fact that unemployment really sucks!

Louis Cordice

Louis Cordice a.k.a Blaise Zabini (of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince)

[tall dark and handsome on the left]
also known as the new official love of my life
He was a member of the Slytherin house and the new apple of my eye.
i am actually really sad that when you google image his name he only has a few head shot pictures and so i cannot creep his face and/or pictures on the internet.

Blaise Zabini

is a prejuduce towards muggle born Slytherin, who is famous because his mother was a very beautiful and famous witch because she had been widowed a total of 7 times. he wasn't an important part of the Harry Potter books but he was mentioned several times, and received a lot of camera time because he is good friends with Draco Malfoy and Pansy Parkinson. But in reality the reason why this character got so much camera time was because of his charming good looks and gorgeousness....

Let me add he is on the quiddich team and wears the best number a.k.a my number 6!

this is my obsession of the day

choice jam of the day:
Can't Help But Wait - Trey Songz

so here is the first recipe of many..

recipe of the day:
so this recipe is easy for when you're at home, bored and just want a nice snack
i like this because it has basic everyday ingredients that you find at your house, and if you bake it with some nice attention they can be made super soft, or hard on the outside and soft on the indside... absolutley splended...

Easy Sugar Cookies

ingredients:
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

lion's den

this is my first review that im going to do

Lion's Den

is a small english pub in a nice suburban area
at first when you drive by you think it would be one of those gloomy pubs with poor lighting and old english men drinking followed by a smoke ring around the bar filling their lungs with immense levels of second hand smoke.

well for the first time two of my friends and i went there for my friend paren's first legal drink
when we walked through the door to find that tuesday nights are karaoke night. it was aweomse and labatt blue pitchers were under 12 dollars and it was bomb. the food was decently priced and their sweet potato fries were BOMB!

so once the karaoke got going, there were many good singers, and some pretty bad ones...
but once the night got late... i didn't think the night could get any better until..
an old brown west indian man got on the stage and sang the best song of life:
THE DOLLAR WINE DANCE

it was the perfect way to end a good solid night and has no forever placed the Lion's Den as a solid pub to go to!
